Hiedanranta’s Garden Party 

The Hiedanranta Garden Party will be held on Saturday 17.8! The free end-of-summer party will feature music, performances, children’s entertainment, art, dance, circus, a glimpse into the sustainable neighbourhood of the future, and of course fun activities and community spirit!

Enjoy the music in the mansion milieu

At Hiedanranta’s Garden Party, you can enjoy wonderful music. The top name of Finnish indies, Yona, Ne Lintuizet (Kielo Kärkkäinen, Laura Moisio, Lauri Myllymäki), and the children’s music group Orffit will take the stage.

Singer-songwriter Yona (real name Johanna Rasmus) is a superstar of Finnish art pop. In her 12-year career, the chameleon-like artist has released a total of 8 studio albums and is currently working hard on her 9 album. Her songs are characterized by a personal touch and cinematic proportions.

Contemporary circus, dance and magic

Sisters and Six is a warm contemporary circus show for all ages about sibling love, and diversity. Air and ground acrobatics and juggling astonish, the soundscape and the misunderstandings amuse. The wordless performance depicts the growing-up story of two siblings while offering beautiful insights into human relationships. Les Plaisirs Baroques de Kissanmaa performs music, dance and comedy written by Molière.

Circus Simonin “We are the champions” is a circus theater performance centered around the theme of “achievements”. The show is a mix of high-level choreographed circus acts, football juggling, warm-ups and dance moves suitable for the entire audience. Viljo Haapamäki is a new generation magician and mentalist whose goal is to challenge old-fashioned notions of magical entertainment.

Alterables brings two curious and gentle characters to the summer crowd. Tankoleidit combine Bach’s solo cello suite and pole dance. Paradox Dancers performs a fast-paced and joyful Latino show dance performance.

Tricking, making art and playing ukulele

Tricking is a spectacular exercise that combines kicks, turns and twists, e.g. martial arts and gymnastics. Skilled instructors and students of Finland’s only trickery gym, LegendTrick Gym will introduce trickery and teach the basics.

Make your own postcard with the help of the multidisciplinary artist crew of Culture Cooperative TIcAS. Test the art of calligraphy, and origami printing to create your unique design. Add a little something to remind you of summer and the garden party of Hiedanranta.

In reflector workshop you can design and make your own reflector from leftover tan leather and reflector fabric. In plant print workshop you can compose your chosen plants on fabric and create your very own unique plant print.

In music school Demo’s instrument workshop you can try out the guitar and ukulele with Demo’s nice teacher. No prior knowledge is needed – welcome to make music!

Delicious food in an urban factory environment

The food world being built in Tehdasaukio offers delicacies for every taste. In addition to BLOKKI Outdoor Lounge Bar & Kitchen there are also other street food restaurants at the Garden Festival. The selection includes fish and vegetarian food, pizza, hot dogs as well as Thai food.

In Jukola square party guests are served by Hempee x Minetti -ice cream kiosk. Manor café Mielihyvin is also open and serves self-baked cafe delicacies.

Come to music play school, disco or workshop

In the Jamkids -park music play school session children get to play a variety of instruments and of course sing and dance.
At the play area of Community Art School Hehkumahku  children can try out circus equipment and obstacles. You are also welcome to clown disco with Hehkumahku and their characters! You can bring your own accessories or borrow ones provided on site.

The City of Tampere Art Arc  -workshop you can craft your own garden party accessories out of paintable felt.

During the day Pirkanmaa Marttas’ give information about berries and gardening at harvest time in the Hiedanranta’s Edible Park.

City of Tampere’s Carbon Neutral Actions development programme organises the testing of cargo bikes in cooperation with the Tampere-based Lootabikes
In ears that listen -discussion point the deacon worker and the priest of the Harju congregation will be listening for any things that might be on your mind.

Hiedanranta’s Paja Katutaso-store is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the exhibition by Jeehye Song is on display in Gallery Muuntotila.

Ne Lintuizet (Pekko Käppi, Kielo Kärkkäinen, Laura Moisio, Lauri Myllymäki) is a Finnish supergroup bringing polyphonic folk to the 21st century.
Founded in 2024, their smooth and sensitive sound combines the golden age of American folk, traditional Finnish folk, and Nueva canción.

CHILDREN’S BAND ORFFIT ORPHIT

Orffit contains three half-naked daddies. One has a saxophone – tööt, one has a guitar – pling, and the third has drums – pum! At their best, they sound wonderfully beautiful, gentle and wild!

LES PLAISIRS BAROQUES DE KISSANMAA: MUSICAL COMEDY FROM THE KINGDOM OF THE SUN KING

A baroque ensemble and a group of actors perform music, dance and comedy written by Molière. The music for the show has been composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully. Come enjoy baroque-inspired dance with a side of comedy!The show is suitable for all ages and lasts approximately 30-minutes.

CIRCUS SIMON: WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

“We are the champions” is a circus theater performance centered around the theme of “achievements”. The show is a mix of high-level choreographed circus acts, football juggling, warm-ups and dance moves suitable for the entire audience!

TANKOLEIDIT: BAROQUE FOR TANGO AND CELLO

What kind of dialogue arises between the cellist and the pole dancer, and where does Bach’s cello solo lead them? Tankoleidit are Elina Honkonen (pole dance and cello) and Tintti Mikkonen (pole dance).

THE MAGICIAN & MENTALIST VILJO HAAPAMÄKI

Viljo Haapamäki is a new generation magician and mentalist, whose show, full of excitement and laughter, has charmed hundreds of audiences in Finland and abroad. Viljo’s aim is to challenge the old-fashioned notions of magic entertainment – in his hands, the modern wonders of magic and mentalism form a highly entertaining spectacle, during which reality and the laws of nature are redefined. A unique experience to be experienced for yourself!

ALTERABLES: SUMMER

Alterables brings two curious and gentle characters into the summer crowd or into the shade of trees for a garden party. Wind-blown, water-borne, sand-grinding and curious, the Alterables meet passers-by and party guests as they move and dance. The form of the performance and the encounters will evolve according to the performance, the setting and the activity of the audience. PARADOX DANCERS

Paradox Dancers presents a fast-paced and joyful Latino show dance performance. The show features a variety of different dance styles, such as samba, chacha and salsa.

In this workshop you can design and make your own reflector from leftover tan leather and reflector fabric. Choose your favorite from the available models and decorate it. The workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Katutaso store.

MUSIC SCHOOL DEMO`S GUITAR AND UKULELE WORKSHOP

In music school Demo’s instrument workshop you can try out the guitar and ukulele with Demo’s nice teacher. Demo offers music and singing lessons in the centre of Tampere for everyone over 7 years old, including adults. No prior knowledge is needed – welcome to make music!

HEHKUMAHKU PLAY AREA

Try circus equipment and obstacles on Hehkumahku’s course! There will be giant soap bubbles every hour and friendship games with old and new friends!

CHILDREN’S CLOWN DISCO

Welcome to the clown disco with Community Art School Hehkumahku and their characters! You can bring your own accessories or borrow ones provided on site. SuperrRuuti clown will be helping children with fun dance moves! Music at the ball is played by DJ Nalle.

PARTY HATS AND FLOWER CROWNS -WORKSHOP

In this workshop you can craft your own garden party accessories out of paintable felt. You can seek inspiration for your accessories from all around Hiedanranta, such as plants and the graffiti. No previous experience required! The workshop is organized by The City of Tampere Art Arc program

JAMKIDS PARK MUSIC PLAY SCHOOL SESSION

In the Jamkids -park music play school session children get to play a variety of instruments and of course sing and dance. Jamkids Music School organises music play schools in the centre of Tampere for 0-6 year olds. Admission is free and there is no need to register in advance – welcome!

CARGO BIKES TESTING

City of Tampere’s Carbon Neutral Actions development programme organises the testing of cargo bikes in cooperation with the Tampere-based Lootabikes. Participants in the garden party will have the opportunity to test and try out electric goods- and cargo bikes between 11am and 2pm.

Come and listen to the Pirkanmaa Marttas’ information sessions about berries and gardening at harvest time in Hiedanranta’s Eating Park.
